Arkansas
Arkansas apostille requirements for powers of attorney
Powers of attorney must be original (original signature of the signer(s)) and properly notarized by an Arkansas notary public (must contain an acknowledgment with each signature on the document).
It is essencial that the Arkansas Notary Public includes a notarial statement so the apostille request is processed in a timely manner. Documents that only contain the notary’s signature and stamp, without the proper notarial statement, will be rejected.
Remotely (electronically) notarized powers of attorney cannot be apostilled. The documents must be signed in front of the notary.

California
California apostille requirements for powers of attorney
To be eligible for California apostilles, powers of attorney (POA) must be properly notarized by a California notary public and must contain an acknowledgment.
An acknowledgment confirms that the signer personally appeared before the notary, was properly identified, and declared that they willingly signed the document. While the document can be signed before the notary appointment, the signer must still appear in person to confirm the signature.
Here is a sample California Certificate of acknowledgment.
Only the signer's printed name should appear on the acknowledgment form. No title, no signer's signature.
The acknowledgment can be on a separate page or printed on the document.
Remotely notarized documents: California law requires a person to appear personally before a notary public to obtain notarial acts like acknowledgments or jurats. This means the party must be physically present before the notary public. A video image or other form of non-physical representation is not a personal appearance in front of a notary public under current California State law.
Electronically notarized documents: California notaries public are authorized under current law to perform notarizations on documents electronically as long as all the requirements for a traditional paper-based notarial act are met, including the use of a seal for all but two specific documents used in real estate transactions.

Colorado apostille requirements for powers of attorney
Powers of attorney must be properly notarized by a Colorado notary public and must contain an acknowledgment with each signature on the document.
A properly notaratized Power of attorney has:

- A completed document - all blanks must be filled in or crossed out.

Connecticut
Connecticut apostille requirements for powers of attorney
To qualify for apostilles, powers of attorney must be correctly notarized by a Connecticut notary public and include an acknowledgment statement.
Documents that only have the notary’s signature and stamp, without the required notarial wording, will not be accepted.
While the power of attorney itself can be in a foreign language, the notarial certificate must be in English.

Remotely/electronically notarized documents: are not acceptable for apostilles. To receive an apostille from the Secretary of the State in Connecticut the document in question must be signed in ink by both parties.
If multiple individuals are signing the document, the notary should notarize each signature.
Connecticut state law does not require that notaries obtain and use a seal, or rubber stamp. Even though the use of a seal is optional, state law does prescribe the format of the seal to be used. The notary seal must include the notary's name as it appears on their certificate of appointment, the words "Notary Public" and "Connecticut".
When using the seal, the impression should be affixed near, but not over, the notary's signature. The stamp bearing the words "My Commission Expires" should be placed below the notary's signature and the notary must write in the date on which their commission expires, unless the date appears on the stamp.

New Jersey apostille requirements for powers of attorney
To be eligible for apostilles / legalization, your power of attorney must be original (contain the original signture(s) of the signer(s)). Photocopies, digital copies, notarized copies are not acceptable for apostille purposes.
Your power of attorney must be properly notarized with the original signature and stamp/seal of the notary public. The notary should include a notarial statement: the certificate of acknowledgment. If there is no notarial statement on the document (just the signature and the stamp), the document will be rejected!
Remotely notarized powers of attorney are not eligible for apostilles.
If there are more than one signer on the document, the notary should indicate whose signature(s) he/she is notarizing.
The State of New Jersey does not apostille documents where the notary's license has expired. Active notaries only.

Your document can be a notarized original or it can be signed and notarized electronically / remotely. Your document must have a date. If there are more than one signer, the notary should indicate whose dignature he/she is notarizing. There must be no corrections or blanks. The signature(s) must be properly notarized by a New York notary public. The document may be in a foreign language, no translation is required. The notary's statement must be in English.If your document was singed and notarized in a different state, an apostille should be obtained from that state. For example, if you signed the power of attorney in California, it can only be apostilled in California.

Request a sample POA from the country of intended use
We strongly recommend to obtain a sample power of attorney from the country of intended use, tailor it to your needs, and then sign, have it notarized and apostilled. For example, if your power of attorney is intended for Mexico, a Mexican attorney should draft the document for you (either in Spanish or in English, or both). For apostille purposes, the State of New York allows documents in foreign languages, provided that the notarial statement (acknowledgment) (see below) is in English. Please note that, for apostille purposes, in a Spanish document the words "notario publico" are not allowed by most County Clerks in the State of New York.

What does a "proper notarization" mean?
Please note that for apostille purposes the contents of the document is not important. What is important is the way the document is notarized. We will check if the notary public who notarized your power of attoney, authorization, affidavit or consent is active (in good standing) and whether the document was notarized properly.
Make sure the notary follows the requirements:
The signature of the notary public must exactly match the sample signature filed with the office of the County Clerk in the county where the notary public is qualified. This is important because if the notary's signature on the document does not match the sample signature on file with the County Clerk's office, the document will be rejected.
The notary's stamp must indicate the notary's name, license number, the name of the county where the notary is qualified, and the expiration date of the notary's license. If the notary does not have an ink stamp, the above information must be printed or typed in black ink.
