importantThe transcript must be certified/signed by a school official (principal, registrar, counselor, etc.) The signature of the school official must be original.

According to the TX Secretary of State, in order to qulify for an apostille the notarized school transcript or diploma must:

  1. Be notarized by a Texas Notary Public
  2. Meet the following requirements:
    • If you are submitting an original transcript or diploma issued from the school, the school registrar or a school official must provide the true and correct statement and signature on the document.
    • If you are submitting a photocopy of the transcript or diploma, the student or parent (if the student is not a legal adult) must provide the true and correct statement and signature on the document.

importantThe signature of the school official must be notarized by a Texas notary public. The notary must use a notarial certificate, otherwise the document cannot be apostilled. The best notarial certificate would be the Acknowledgment.

  2. For notarization of a PHOTOCOPY of the original school record, the owner of the original document must sign an affidavit on the photocopy, in the presence of the notary public. In either case, the notary must complete the appropriate notarial certificate acknowledging the date the signer appeared before him/her.
