New Jersey apostille requirements for marriage certificates
To be eligible for apostilles / legalization, certified copies of New Jersey marriage certificates must be issued by the Office of Vital Statistics of the NJ Department of Health in Trenton NJ, and certified by the State Registrar or Assistant State Registrar. These certificates are usually blue, green or burgundy in color.

Locally issued marriage certificates (marriage certificates issued by municipal, town, county registrars) are not eligible for apostilles.
